CDPHE's Upcoming HIV Prevention RFA

On October 1, 2014 the STI/HIV/Viral Hepatitis Section at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will be posting a Request for Application (RFA). The purpose of the RFA is to fund partnerships in rural areas of the state in order to serve persons at high risk for acquiring HIV, address systemic conditions that increase the risks for acquiring HIV, and reduce transmission of HIV.

For Gay Men, Gaps in HIV Knowledge and Treatment Persist

Saturday is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, but the news about knowledge and treatment of HIV in the gay community is dispiriting.

Just 30 percent of gay and bisexual men say they were tested for HIV within the last year as recommended; another 30 percent say they have never been tested.

And even when they are tested, only half of those who have been diagnosed with HIV are receiving care and treatment for their infection.

Special Enrollment Periods and Life Change Events

Is it possible to buy a marketplace health insurance plan outside of open enrollment? The answer is yes. If you have a qualifying event also known as a Life Change Event you can enroll in or change your health insurance plan. When a change in your life occurs, you have 30 days to report the change and 60 days to shop for insurance. So, what is considered a Life Change Event?
