International Overdose Awareness Day - Aug 31

From the Harm Reduction Action Center:

Dear Supporters,

Did you know that August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day? Did you know 100 people die every day of overdose in the United States? Did you know there is a fatal overdose in Denver County every 36 hours?

This day is recognized around the world as a day we acknowledge individual loss and family grief for people who have suffered an overdose. It sends a strong message to current and former drug users that they are valued.

Last year, we were able to garner a proclamation from Governor Hickenlooper to recognize this day as Colorado's Overdose Awareness Day, as well. See below.

We are losing too many friends and family members ... let's raise awareness about this important issue.

Join us in Denver:
This Friday, August 29, 2014
2:30-4:00pm at the Harm Reduction Action Center 733 Santa Fe Drive (***note location change from Colfax & Broadway***)
for a candlelight vigil and moment(s) of remembrance.

See the Colorado-specific designed logo in this post. One of our family members who lost their brother to overdose had this designed. Unable to attend an event for the day? Please consider utilizing the logo below and tell folks why Overdose Awareness Day is important to you. And Post a Tribute.

Need Naloxone? We now have classes on Monday's ... join us at noon on September 8, 15, 22, or the 29th. RSVP with Lisa at Lisa.harm.reduction@gmail.com
